Saul McLeod Bio
by Saul McLeod, published 2011
This site is written, designed and coded by me, Saul McLeod, and I am a graduate teaching assistant at The University of Manchester. Previous to this I taught A-level psychology at Wigan and Leigh College for ten years.
I have a degree in psychology and have a masters degree in research. I am also undertaking a PhD part time at The University of Manchester.
I started this website in 2007 by uploading some of my teaching notes online to a free website provided by my cable TV company. During early 2011 I purchased this current domain and transferred all my pages to this new address. I also redesigned the site (June 2011) to give it a more informal and accessible appearance.
This site was originally designed for A-level psychology students from the UK, but I am now trying to write articles which are accessible to a broad spectrum of psychology students from basic entry psychology programs up to degree level study.
The aim of the site is to write engaging and informative articles in an academic style, but still clear and simple enough to be understood by psychology students of all educational levels.
I have recently changed the spellings of words from UK to US, as the site is now receiving a significant proportion of visitors from America. I apologize to UK visitors for any inconvenience this may cause.
I am pleased to report the site is receiving over 1,000,000 visitors per month (and this number is growing). Thanks to everyone who has emailed, posted a comment on the message board or linked to the site.
I have made the site suitable for mobile and ipad visitors, as over 20% of site visitors are now using handheld devices.
You can follow the website on Twitter and Google+.
You can also follow me on my own Google+ page should you feel the need to boost my ego.
Thanks to the many people who had emailed me regarding the site:
Fantastic, simple, easy to follow layout that has just helped me complete my second assignment for an Openings course at Open University. It has been over 20 years since i was at school so i am struggling a little with all this. I have book marked it to my favorites and i intend to go through all the chapters/sections at a later date when i have spare time.
Thank you very much for sharing this, and i am sure, you will have helped lots of people (including me) with their understanding of the subject. Whilst there is plenty of information available on the web, i feel is not as simplistic and basic to follow as yours…its too complex and i get lost and then feel more inadequate!
So, once again, Thank You very very much, Kind regards
I have been visiting your site (simply psychology) quite regularly. I want to tell you that the contents are really helpful and explained in a lucid manner. I have just one request. Could you post a page wherein all the articles that are present on your website can be found at one place - I mean only the links. This would be some sort of index page. If this kind of thing exists, I am sorry for bothering you. But please guide me to that link, if that is so.
Any ways, keep up the good work. I want to see more from you.
I just wanted to say thank you for all the information you have provided on your site!I'm doing an essay on Vygotsky and Piaget, your website has given me the basic information I need in a well written and easily understandable way!
It is rare to find a website that hits the nail on the head as well as yours has!
